What is Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST)?

BCST supports health in the body. It is a profound and powerful touch therapy that supports the body to self – repair and find natural balance.

What happens during a treatment?

In a typical craniosacral session, you will usually lie (or sometimes sit) fully-clothed on a treatment couch. The therapist will make contact by placing their hands lightly on your body and tuning in to what is happening by ‘listening’ with their hands. Contact is made carefully so that you will feel at ease with what is happening.
During the session one of the first things that you will probably notice is your body and nervous system beginning to slow down and deeply relax, usually lasting throughout the whole session. This relaxed state engages the natural self-repair mechanisms and provides the space to heal, unravel, rewire and regenerate. Successive treatments can empower you to self-regulate in everyday life and develop an increased sense of self.

What symptoms can be treated?

Treatments can help to relieve physical aches and pains, acute and chronic disease, emotional or psychological disturbances or simply improve overall well-being and vitality, allowing you to feel more at ease in every aspect of your life, work, body and relationships.

Who is the treatment suitable for?

As it is a gentle, non-invasive therapy it is suitable for all ages, including pre and post pregnancy and on newborns.

Why would I need this treatment?

From a biodynamic perspective our body’s systems become shaped by our experiences in life, and consistent daily stress responses can disrupt the natural rhythms of our body and create less than favorable health conditions. Our bodies respond to all health challenges by contracting and tensing. When our body contracts it generally stays in that abnormal physiology pattern unless there is some reason for it to be released. These patterns in the connective tissues and nervous system are mirrored back to the client through the touch of the craniosacral therapist, encouraging self-healing and balance to the client’s system.

Benefits of BCST:
•   Original health symptoms or injury have improved,
•   More energy and feeling revitalized,
•   Improved sleep,
•   Improved body awareness and
•   Feeling more relaxed and calm.

The origin of CST

Craniosacral therapy developed from insights experienced by an osteopath Dr William G Sutherland in the early 20th century. Through many years of self-exploratory observations, he discovered the importance of the movement of the bones in the head as a direct expression of physical, emotional and mental health. Further research revealed to Dr Sutherland that the body expresses natural subtle rhythms that pulsate through every cell. Of most significance, he observed the effects that restriction in these areas had through the whole body, consequently compromising the body’s natural ability to self-repair.

The sessions I offer are in complementary therapy and are not a substitute for medical care. If you are concerned about your health please also contact your GP
